Opening Reception and Performance: Friday, October 17, 5 – 7 pm
Curated by HBAC director Darlene DeAngelo, 2332 is a conceptual investigation of baseball. The title is a numerical reference to two strikes, three balls, three men on, two outs. 9 artists were “drafted” for the exhibition, artist trading cards have been printed, a whiffle ball game will be played at the opening. My contribution is a series of four works on paper made up of many layers of baseball statistics. The numbers are drawn from the 1970 Major League season, the colors are extracted from baseball photographs (grass, dirt, mustard, relish, beer, jerseys, etc…).
